CALIFORNIA- The radical gender ideology machine continues its assault on America’s children, but courageous voices of truth are rising up – even in the heart of liberal California. Last week, 23-year-old Jonni Skinner, a young man who was medically transitioned as a confused teen, stood before the California Senate Judiciary Committee and delivered a gut-wrenching testimony that should shake every parent and policymaker to their core.
Diagnosed with high-functioning autism as a child and raised in a religious family, Jonni felt different from other boys. Bullied for feminine interests and influenced by online propaganda, he was rushed into “gender-affirming care” at just 13 years old. Therapists and endocrinologists told him he had a “girl brain in a boy body” due to some supposed prenatal hormonal imbalance. They placed him on puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones without ever exploring the deeper causes of his distress.
The results were devastating. Jonni suffered fainting spells, painful muscle spasms, urinary problems, and lasting sexual dysfunction – including the heartbreaking reality that, as a now 23-year-old gay man, he has never experienced an orgasm and may never do so. In powerful words directed straight at Democratic Sen. Scott Wiener, Jonni declared: “They poisoned my body with blockers and hormones, arresting my puberty and messing with my development. The result is I’m a 23-year-old gay man who’s never had an orgasm and may never experience one. Let that sink in.”
He was testifying against SB 934, Wiener’s bill that would allow lawsuits against therapists for so-called “conversion therapy” – broadly defined to include any counseling that questions or explores a minor’s gender confusion. Critics rightly warn this would gag professionals from helping vulnerable kids uncover underlying issues like autism, trauma, bullying, or same-sex attraction before rushing them toward irreversible chemical and surgical interventions. Jonni called the affirming model he received “chemical conversion therapy” that harmed him as a gay youth.
This is not care. This is experimentation on confused, often autistic or traumatized children – enabled by ideologues who deny biological reality and biblical truth that God created us male and female. The full harms to society from this madness – sterility, lifelong medical dependency, regret, and shattered families – have yet to be fully realized, but stories like Jonni’s reveal the human cost.
Here in Nevada, we reject California’s reckless path. Pro-family, pro-life conservatives know that protecting children means telling them the truth, not affirming confusion. Parents, not politicians or activists, should guide their sons and daughters. Therapists should be free to provide ethical, exploratory counseling rooted in science and faith – not silenced by threat of lawsuit.
The march to restore sanity, protect God’s design for humanity, and defend parental rights continues. Let Jonni Skinner’s brave stand be a rallying cry for every Nevada family: our children are not experiments.
