Carson City, NV – In a move that defies the clear will of the American people, Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford and Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar announced on April 4, 2026, that the Silver State is leading a 22-state lawsuit challenging President Donald J. Trump’s executive order aimed at restoring integrity to our federal elections.
Signed on March 31, 2026, President Trump’s order directs the Department of Homeland Security, in coordination with the Social Security Administration, to compile and share with each state a list of confirmed U.S. citizens who are of voting age and reside in that state. It further instructs the U.S. Postal Service to send mail-in and absentee ballots only to individuals on state-approved participation lists, while requiring secure tracking on official election mail.
President Trump made the intent crystal clear: “It’s about voter integrity. We want to have honest voting in our country because if you don’t have honest voting, you can’t have a nation.”
Yet Nevada Democrats are fighting back, claiming the federal government has no business ensuring only American citizens vote in federal elections. Aguilar appear more interested in aligning with national Democrat resistance than listening to everyday Nevadans who simply want fair, transparent, and lawful elections.
