LAS VEGAS (TNVCNews)- In a clear message that the days of unchecked leaks are over, the FBI has arrested and the Justice Department has charged a former Army Special Operations Command employee with willfully transmitting Top Secret classified national defense information to unauthorized individuals, including a journalist.
Courtney Williams, 40, of Wagram, North Carolina, worked from 2010 to 2016 as an operational support specialist for a Special Military Unit (SMU) at Fort Bragg. She held a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance, received extensive training on safeguarding classified material, and signed nondisclosure agreements warning that unauthorized disclosures could lead to criminal charges. Her role gave her daily access to highly sensitive information vital to our nation’s top warfighters.

According to the Department of Justice, between 2022 and 2025, Williams allegedly passed classified details about the elite unit to a journalist through more than 10 hours of phone calls and over 180 text messages. The journalist used the information for an article and a book. Williams even messaged her concerns about potential arrest under the Espionage Act, admitting she knew the risks “100 times a day” throughout her career – yet she proceeded anyway, later joking she might “go to jail for life.” She also reportedly made unauthorized disclosures on social media.
This is exactly the kind of reckless betrayal that puts American lives at risk. Leaking secrets about our special operations forces doesn’t just embarrass the government – it endangers our troops, our allies, and the very missions that keep radical threats at bay. When insiders exalt their own feelings or seek the spotlight over the safety of the United States, they undermine the trust our warfighters depend on.

FBI Director Kash Patel delivered a strong, no-nonsense response: “FBI and our partners have arrested a former SOCOM employee, who supported our top-level military warfighters, for allegedly transmitting classified information to a member of the media. Outstanding work by FBI Charlotte and the FBI Counterintelligence & Espionage Division – as well as our DOJ partners. Let this serve as a message to any would-be leakers: we’re working these cases, and we’re making arrests. This FBI will not tolerate those who seek to betray our country and put Americans in harm’s way.”
Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg added: “Clearance holders accept a solemn obligation to protect the classified information entrusted to them. That they do so is critical to the security of our Nation. When clearance holders violate that trust, the National Security Division will act swiftly to hold them accountable.”
U.S. Attorney Ellis Boyle emphasized: “We trust our war fighting individuals to cooperate as a team to protect our military and country. We will pursue criminal charges to keep these warriors safe whenever we find leakers exalting their own feelings over the safety of the United States.”

This arrest under the Trump administration’s leadership signals a renewed commitment to restoring integrity in our national security apparatus. For too long, selective leaks have flooded the media, often timed to damage conservative leadership or military operations. No more. Americans who cherish our Constitution, our military, and our God-given liberties expect those entrusted with secrets to keep them – period.
Our special operators and the support personnel who stand with them represent the best of America: courage, discipline, faith, and an unwavering defense of the greatest nation on earth. Betraying that trust isn’t whistleblowing – it’s self-serving recklessness that weakens our defenses at a time when threats from abroad continue to loom.
We salute Director Patel and the FBI for their decisive action. America is stronger when our secrets stay secret, our warriors stay safe, and the rule of law applies equally to everyone – including former insiders who should know better.
