Clark County voters deserve leaders of integrity who uphold the rule of law, protect families, and steward public resources with honesty and accountability. Yet one candidate for Public Administrator, Marlin “M.J.” Ivy, brings a documented history of felony convictions, prison time, and fresh accusations of threats that should give every conservative, faith-based Nevadan pause.

According to a Las Vegas Review-Journal investigation, Ivy—who presents himself as a pastor with military experience—was recently accused of threatening to break a man’s wrists and hands during a heated phone call over campaign signs. Henderson Police received the report in March, capturing the caller’s voice on recording: “When I see you, and I will see you, I will break your hands. And I promise you on God’s mighty, I will break your wrists, and I will break your hands. You are f—-ed.” The alleged victim identified Ivy, a local political candidate, though he later declined to press charges and the case was closed.
This is not Ivy’s first brush with the law. Court records reveal a 2014 felony battery with a deadly weapon conviction (later overturned on appeal) involving an incident where he allegedly struck an employee with his car after a dispute at an adult video store. He has served prison time for two attempted robbery convictions involving cellphones. Additional past charges include assault on a law enforcement officer, multiple battery incidents, and disturbing the peace—some tied to domestic situations. Many records have since been sealed, allowing Ivy to legally claim they “never happened” when seeking employment or public office.
Ivy’s brief stint as a part-time deputy public administrator in 2022 came under the shadow of former officeholder Robert Telles, who was later convicted of murdering Review-Journal reporter Jeff German. Ivy has acknowledged past friendship and campaigning with Telles before distancing himself. The Public Administrator’s office handles sensitive matters—probating estates, protecting vulnerable estates, and serving families in their most difficult times. Placing someone with this background in such a role risks undermining public trust in an office meant to deliver justice and compassion.
In an era when conservatives fight to restore law and order, protect Second Amendment rights without hypocrisy, and demand character from those who seek authority, Ivy’s record stands in stark contrast to the traditional values that built strong Nevada communities. Our Constitution demands officials who respect the rule of law—not those who appear to skirt it. Faith-based families expect leaders who model personal responsibility rather than rely on sealed records to reinvent themselves for political gain.
Clark County conservatives must vet every candidate thoroughly. Opposition research exists for a reason: to expose what some would rather hide. With multiple candidates in the race, including principled Republicans like Michael Murphy, voters have better options who prioritize public safety, fiscal stewardship, and the pro-family principles that make America the world’s last best hope.
Don’t let slick campaign images or pastoral branding obscure the facts. Nevada’s future depends on electing leaders who strengthen—not threaten—our communities.
