FBI Congress
In a stunning display of accountability that rarely touches the insulated world of Washington Democrats, more than 50 former staffers for Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) have signed an open letter calling for his immediate resignation from Congress and withdrawal from the California gubernatorial race. This comes on the heels of explosive sexual assault and misconduct allegations reported by the San Francisco Chronicle and CNN—allegations now backed by medical records, multiple witnesses, and the courageous testimony of a former staffer who says she was victimized by the very man she trusted to lead.

The letter, signed by 55 former congressional and campaign aides, pulls no punches: “The allegations… are serious, credible, and demand accountability.” They stand firmly with their former colleague who alleges Swalwell sexually assaulted her twice after a night of heavy drinking, when she lacked the capacity to consent. Additional women have come forward accusing the congressman of sending unprompted nude photos and graphic messages—behavior that reeks of the entitlement and abuse of power so common among the coastal elite.

These aren’t partisan hit jobs from across the aisle. These are people who worked alongside Swalwell, who once believed in his leadership, now horrified by what they’ve learned. Their words carry weight: “What has been described is not a political attack. It is the account of a young woman who trusted her employer, who was targeted and exploited by someone in a position of power over her.” They’ve called for a full law enforcement investigation, emphasizing that no one—not even a high-profile Democrat with a history of cozying up to questionable figures—is above the law.
The timing couldn’t be more fitting. Just days after the allegations surfaced, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office announced its own investigation. Even some Democrats, including Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA), have broken ranks to demand Swalwell’s exit, calling the situation an “abuse of power under House ethics rules.” Swalwell has denied the claims and, according to reports, has now suspended his bid for California governor amid the collapsing support.
For years, Swalwell has positioned himself as a moral crusader on the national stage—lecturing Americans on everything from gun rights to “Russian collusion” while enjoying the perks of power in one of the most liberal districts in the country. Yet here we are: a man whose own former team now says enough is enough. This isn’t just karma; it’s a long-overdue reminder that character matters, especially for those who seek to govern.
Conservatives have long warned that the Left’s selective outrage on issues of sexual misconduct—defending their own while weaponizing accusations against opponents—erodes trust in our institutions. True justice demands consistency: protect the vulnerable, hold the powerful accountable, and reject the hypocrisy that lets predators thrive behind party loyalty. Swalwell’s predicament exposes the rot at the heart of that double standard.
We pray for healing for every victim who has carried this burden in silence. We also pray our elected leaders—on both sides—remember that public service is a sacred trust, not a shield for personal failings.
The House Ethics Committee and law enforcement must pursue this thoroughly and transparently. No deflection, no cease-and-desist letters, no claims of “political motivation” should derail the truth. Our Republic depends on leaders who uphold the Constitution and the moral foundation that made America the world’s last, best hope.
