The internet does not forget. Hasan Piker just learned that again.
The far-left streamer — campaign sidekick to Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed — told viewers it is “completely ridiculous” and “laughable” to say that he and El-Sayed hate America. Then the old tape dropped. In a clip circulating since at least 2022, Piker said: “I say I hate America all the time. … People will be like, ‘Hasan, you hate America.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, I do. I do hate America.’” He added that he says it “with my f**king chest.”

That is not a gaffe. That is a brand. Piker has also said America “deserved 9/11,” and he has a long record of anti-Israel and anti-American rhetoric that even some Michigan Democrats now want El-Sayed to bury. Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-MT) put the two men in one frame: “Hating America seems to be a pattern with these two.” Sheehy pointed to El-Sayed’s own Sept. 11, 2021 post that paired mourning 3,000 dead in New York with mourning “~1M lives” he blamed on America the next day.

El-Sayed is trying to change the subject to “affordability.” On MS NOW he said the race is “not about a streamer in California.” The streamer in California campaigned with him. Rep. Debbie Dingell said Piker’s comments are “simply inexcusable” and that El-Sayed must make clear he does not agree. Rep. Haley Stevens said she does not know why El-Sayed campaigned with him and that Piker should be condemned. El-Sayed still will not fully cut the cord.

This is the same El-Sayed now hiring a “Jewish liaison” after synagogue-attack comments and a record of calling Israel an apartheid regime. First the liaison. Now the America-love rebrand from the man on the old tape who said he hates the country with his chest.

Voters can watch both clips in 30 seconds. One is damage control. One is the confession. Michigan does not need a Senate candidate whose loudest validator has to pretend the archive does not exist.
