The South Madison County School Corporation has agreed to pay $200,000 to former school counselor Kathy McCord after firing her for refusing to follow a policy that forced staff to conceal from parents when their child was identifying as the opposite sex at school.
McCord, represented by the Alliance Defending Freedom, held fast to her deeply held Christian beliefs and her commitment to parental authority. She would not lie to mothers and fathers or secretly affirm a child’s confusion behind their backs. The district’s surrender and payout send a powerful message: you cannot trample the First Amendment rights of faithful Americans and expect to escape accountability.
As ADF attorneys stated plainly, “No American should be fired for expressing her beliefs.” This settlement protects the sacred bond between parents and children while affirming that public schools have no right to play secret social engineers with our kids’ minds and bodies.
This fight is part of a larger march to restore religious freedom that is gaining ground in red states willing to push back against the radical gender ideology machine.
